Need to be more keg savy? Here are our most frequently asked questions

Do you supply or sell the actual keg of beer?

OK..This is the most popular question of all time!

SO..We cannot and do not sell beer kegs – You must purchase it from a pub, tavern or licensed premises.

HOWEVER..Not all pubs or taverns will sell you a keg.

THEREFORE..

Option 1.

The Treetops at West Burliegh on the Gold Coast…
They are only too happy for you to call, order and book everything over the phone.
They work closely with us to ensure all orders are fulfilled.
Commercial beer kegs range in price from about $240 for mid-strength, $250 for heavy and $270 and above for premium heavy.
I also pick up the keg for you with this option.

Option 2.

Micro-Brewed beer from U-Brew-It.
They brew fresh, preservative free beer, so less of a headache in the morning!
50 L kegs start from an amazing $150.
Two locations:
U Brew It NERANG – Call Ian on 5527 2408
U Brew It VARSITY – Call Alf on 5593 4402
You will need to check the price with them and ensure your brew is available.

THEN..I can pick up your keg for you (They are pretty heavy!) and deliver all the equipment and the keg all at the same time! Too easy!

Option 3

You supply your own keg.

Will I lose a lot of beer due to wastage?

No.

Unlike other home keg setups, the wheelie keg uses the same quality commercial equipment as your local pub.
This helps minimise wastage and makes it easy to use.
So if you’ve had a bad experience with keg parties in the past don’t worry.
The gear is party proof … and a great new way of enjoying tap beer at home!

What kind of beer is available in a keg?

All the major Australian brands of beer. Tooheys New, Victoria Bitter and XXXX Gold are the most popular brands. Just remember, if you have seen it on tap at your local pub, then the chance is you can get it in a keg.

U-Brew-It at Varsity Lakes or Nerang will also brew all the beers on their extensive beer lists.

How many beers are in a keg?

A keg is 50 litres.
That means that there are 175 Pots / Middys or 117 Schooners.
It is also equivalent to 5 1/2 cartons of 375ml stubbies!
That’s LOTS of beer!

How many kegs will I need?

Top 4 factors when considering the number of kegs required:
1. The number of guests expected – this is a pretty obvious determinant, but are you expecting a very definite number or have you left the invites open ended.
2. The drinking habits of your guest. Are they big beer guzzlers or are a lot of them likely to be drinking wine or soft drinks?
3. Is it a BYOB (bring your own booze) party. You might be doing the decent thing of having a keg for those who forgot to bring their own. Will one keg really be enough?
4. The start and planned end time of the party. If you plan to go all night you will require a lot more beer than if you are just having a pre-pub bash or drinks party.
Examples:
A 21st with over 60 people – minimum 1-2 kegs
A 21st with 150 people – minimum 3-4 kegs.
A house warming where its BYO Drinks and 40 people – 1-2 kegs.
A 40th/50th birthday party with 80 people 2-3 kegs.

When do Delivery and Collection take place?

Deliveries normally take place 2-3 hours before your Party.
Kegs need time to settle.
Collections take place the day after after your party.
We can organize other times, so please call Brett for a chat on 0414 601 836.

How much does it cost to deliver outside the Gold Coast?

I only deliver between Tweed Head and Dreamworld. West to Mt Nathan. The outer lying suburbs will attract a Delivery Fee of $30. Petrol is not cheap these days!

The service is currently NOT available outside these boundary’s. Sorry.

Can I pick the equipment up from you?

NO.

Our equipment is very expensive and I like to know where our gear is at all times. The setup needs to be done by me to ensure a smooth running function.

Will your equipment dispense Kilkenny or Guinness?

Yes, we can modify our gear to dispense all imported beers. This incurs extra cost, so please call for a quote.

Right, I’m Keen – How can I pay?

Cash on delivery is best.

Credit Card payments are available and can be made via PayPal.com.au. They have a secure server and you do not need to have an account. You will however be charged a 3% surcharge.

If you want to pay up front, a direct deposit into our bank account can be made. Just set it up with us!

Is it ever too late to order?

To ensure you don’t miss out, I advise ordering at least 4 days in advance. This way you get the coldest beer possible. All the kegs are in the cold room for 48 hours before a hire.

Nevertheless, It is always worth a shot. If I am not out-the-door busy, or already in the pub, I will make every effort to get keg beer to you.

I have ordered my equipment for next weekend. What do I need to do between now and then re delivery etc?

Leave your phone on, save my number – 0414 601 836, call me to make sure we have the correct contact details. Agree on a specific delivery time. Closer to the party, you could make some party snacks available, blow up some balloons, and don’t forget to invite some punters along. If you are worried about numbers, emphasise/underplay ‘Keg Party’ factor. Good Luck.

Does delivery include setting up etc?

Yes, we leave your beer ready-to-pour.

How long do kegs keep for once opened / tapped?

We will supply enough ice to keep the keg cold for about 12-18 hours. If you think you are a legend and can party for longer sessions, you will need to drain the water and top the ice up yourself!

I have noticed that the total price is not as cheap as stubbies or cans? What’s with that?

Our prices are based on the costs incurred by us plus some left over for beers on Friday Arvo’s. We do not apologise for our prices. They help us maintain our ability to stay in business. We cannot provide our service at lower prices. We provide commercial quality equipment and service, why would we want to undervalue it?

What kind of beer is NOT available in a keg?

You can obviously not get beer that is not brewed in a keg. Common examples are Corona, Crown Lager or Carlton Cold. These beers are only available in bottles.
